God is not shocked. Nor is He biting His fingernails. He's in control. Daniel 2:21 "He removes kings and establishes kings." God ultimately sets up all rulers, both wicked and good, and He is the one who removes them as well.

God used Babylon to punish Israel for her idolatry. Then He turned around and used Medo-Persia to punish Babylon for her sins. In every case, God is in control. 

This doesn't mean that God approves of Obama's pro-abortion, bigger government, higher taxes of the middle man positions. God loves the life of the unborn and He treasures hard work. But He also lets countries have rulers they ask for. To get a President whose values more closely reflect Scripture would be grace. To ge the President we vote for is to get justice. It's to get whom we deserve. 

But God reigns. History tells us that more often than not, the further left government leans and the bigger it swells, the fewer freedoms people have to proclaim their faith and share it freely. Obama's stated plans to restrict scholarships for private schools and requiring the hiring of professors with opposing views on religion to teach in them if they are supported by the government, is just one more step in that direction.

The Bible predicts days of persecution ahead. "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name" (Mat 24:9). Will this happen in the next four years? Probably not at this level. But the day is coming. Rejoice, my fellow brother and sister that you get to take a stand for Christ in a world fast falling away! And if your blood becomes the price of Christ's name being honored, rejoice that your reward in heaven is great (Mat 5:12)!
