Enter the Door of Faith

When we don’t believe someone, we indirectly call him a liar. What does that imply about someone who doesn’t believe God?

The author of Hebrews tells us, "Without faith it is impossible to please God" (Heb 11:6). Were you to go down in history as the most benevolent philanthropist who ever lived or the kindest and humblest person who ever walked the planet, it would still do you know good if you do not have faith in the God who made you, loves you, and sent His Son to die for your sins. Martin Luther said, "There is no greater insult to God than to not believe His promises."

“But if I can’t see it, I won’t believe it!” says the skeptic.

Have you ever seen your brain? Have you ever seen the wind? Have you ever seen history?

None of these things have you ever seen with your own eyes, and yet you believe in all of them.

“But there has to be evidence!” objects the skeptic.

You have the evidence of the Bible which tells you that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
You have the evidence of believers all around whose lives are living testimonies to the power of God’s saving grace.
You have the evidence of your own conscience which tells you that God is holy, you are a sinner, and you need His forgiveness.

Fellow sinner, if you stand before Jesus on the Day of Judgment as one who hardened his heart and refused to believe in the Son of God, you won’t be able to claim that God never sent you proof. He sent you more proof than you needed.

Men don’t fail to enter the pearly gates because there was a lack of proof...but rather a lack of faith.

The only door through which you can be forgiven, is the door of faith.

We as humans prefer different doors. The door of good works. The door of church attendance. The door of “I prayed the sinner’s prayer when I was a child.” The door of comparative righteousness where we rate our own goodness by comparing ourselves to Hitler, Stalin, Timothy McVeigh, and Marilyn Manson, and of course, we look better. But compared to Jesus Christ, the sinless God-man who walked this earth for over 30 years, we fall way short.

Fellow sinner the only door that will save you from the holy wrath of a righteous God is the door of faith, faith in none other than Jesus Christ and what He did for you 2,000 years ago on a hill called Calvary.
